Novell LAN WorkPlace,TCP/IP Configuration Guide

Double click on the Configuration icon to open it.

The LAN WorkPlace Configuration screen displays.

In the Areas section, select Adapter.

In the Adapter Type section select LAN.

Under LAN Adapter select the brand and model of your Ethernet Adapter.

Further information about the selected adapter displays.

You may need to check your Ethernet Adapter's documentation to get the proper settings for the Interrupt, I/O Port, DMA and Slot.

Set the following:

IP Frame:
Ethernet_II

IPX Frame:
Ethernet_802.2

In the Areas section, select TCP/IP.

In the Addressing section:

* Select Load LAN WorkPlace TCP/IP.
* IP Address: Enter the IP address of this host.
* Subnet Mask: Enter 255.255.255.0 for an unsubnetted class C address.
* Domain Name: Enter your InterNIC assigned domain name.

In the DNS IP Addresses section:

* In 1st: Enter the physically closest machine from the list of DNS name resolvers.
* In 2nd: Enter the second closest machine.

In the Routing section:

* Enter the IP address of your router.
* Click on OK.

You will be prompted to exit Windows and reboot your system.

After the reboot try to ping one of our name resolvers by IP address. This will verify that you have IP connectivity.

You can also ping mit.edu to verify that you can resolve host names.
